How To Get A Job If You Are A Music Major

By George Dodson

When summer arrives most of the college students look for a job. Most of these students chose something that is not to skilled but helps them to supplement their income until it?s time to hit the books again. Some students also get a job in the same field they are studying. The summer jobs are mainly for a short period of time.

People who have a major in music needs to find out what is store for them?

Summer music camp can be a good option. Musicians are generally hired as counselors and entertainers. Some people are paid while others are not. The room facilities are offered by some of the camps and you practice your music there.

You should keep it mind that the hiring process is very competitive. You can also emphasize your experience. You also need to tell how you deal with children. Anything you can do to stand out from the competition is very important.

One way to do that is to make a DVD of your performance. You can include any experience you have had, or short clips of work you have done. It is very important to work on your resume. You will get a good idea of what is acceptable right away.

One very good opportunity is the Frenchwoods summer camp. It offers non-competitive summer music programs for college students in the US. You don?t have to audition before the summer. You need to give the audition after reaching the camp. The camp allows musicians of all levels to join. There are options to include you in a performance directly.

The camp offers a youth symphony, an concert band, a jazz program and a rock and roll camp. The camp offers a lot of activities for the interns and is a great place to have fun.

For music students, summer music camps are about the best opportunity to find employment that is geared to your skills. Some are better than others are, and most pay and offer room and board. That will just about take care of you for the summer. You can enhance your skills and help others at the same time.
