How Executive Recruiters Shortlist Qualified Applicants

By Dominique Martin

Executive recruitment is one of the leading agency that offers many public and private sector a pool of professionals at the time when they need these talents the most. The agency is famous throughout New Zealand for their continued services in Executive recruitment, change management, leadership roles, management consulting, senior functions and many other services. Executive recruiters methodologies and confidence has seen the agency grow to greater heights and being noticed throughout the region for recruiting best candidates for various posts.

Due to an overwhelming number of applications that the agency receives upon a job opening, it is always important for applicants to submit only the best applications. Those applications that do not meet the criteria for a specific advertised job are simply ignored. This is due to the competition that is involved during recruitment process

When the agency advertises a job opening, they expect only qualified applicant to apply. They are normally very specific, and they expect each applicant to read all the requirements before applying. When your application does not meet the set criteria, they take it that either you did not read fully the job advertisement, or you did not read it at all. They will therefore not spend time on your application.

Other things to consider when doing your application, especially the application letter, is typing errors or spelling mistakes. This definitely disqualifies you and you will never hear from them. Make sure your grammar is unmatched and that you proofread and spell check your cover letter before you finally submit it. They get the impression that you are careless, lazy and a person who cannot even proofread a simple application letter.

When doing such an application, make sure that your resume is up to the point. This is because the recruiters always have little time to go through the resumes. Note that they receive overwhelming applications on a given day and therefore, they do not have all the time in the word to go through all of them exhaustively. Therefore, you must be simple to read, short and that goes directly to the point.

On the other hand, it may be your resume that does not clearly get to the point. All applicants should know that the recruiter devotes less time on each resume. Therefore, if yours will not be on point, they will just have to ignore it and find one that is on point.

Other causes may be typos on the application letter that could put off the recruiter. Recruiters are also human being and since the position might be limited, they will do as they please to remain with only the best applicants. Therefore, if you have typos in your letter, the recruiter will have the impression that you are careless in your work and therefore will not shortlist you. Always proofread your work or have someone to do this.

When all these and more requirement are followed to the later, you will be most likely be taken in for a job. It will depend with your attitude, mood and determination however always keep everything at its moderate. The recruiters are also human being subject to being biased. Make sure you do not push them towards ignoring your application.
