Setting Dog Walker Rates

By George Dodson

Everyone loves animals. If you agree, then you most probably had one or two. I owned a dog previously. Dogs make great company. With time, you get used to dogs.

We love our animals and want to take care of them. It means that we have to clean, feed and seek their medical attention. All this is part of loving your animal no matter what it is.

For many people, owning a pet is all the interaction they have with animals. Other people though look forward to making loving animals a career.

One of the areas available to pet lovers is the dog walking business.

Dog walkers take clients dogs for a walk on a daily basis. That might be a short walk or scenic walk for the exercise of the dog. For lovers of animals, this is enjoyable.

The start-up costs for this business is small yet the income opportunities are just about unlimited. Some people are willing to pay a high price to have their animals walked, as they are unable to do it themselves. It is also possible to hire dog walkers and be their manager.

You can also choose the type of dog walking business that suits you. You might prefer either walking dogs as a group or individually.

There are also other dog services that can be incorporated for example massage, grooming or training on obedience.

One important aspect of this business is the price you set for the service. How is the fee set?

Walking dogs in a city having 10 to 150 thousand people is standardized as follows.

A ½ an hour walk costs 15 to 20 dollars. For one hour, the price is 20 to 30 dollars. The stated rate is for one dog, additional dogs pay half of one dog.

The rate differs if there with the walking distance, the type of walk and if the dog is to be offered treats along the way. It might also vary if you group walk dogs rather than a single or two dogs.

Additional services call for individual rate calculations.

While signing a working contract on walking dogs, ensure that the costs are calculated upfront especially with additional charges.

If you happen to love pets, then dog walking is a good business. Some people will pay you handsomely for walking their dogs as they do not have time to do it. To them it is a valuable service. For you it can be a lucrative service as well as an enjoyable one.
