By Tracie Knight

When looking for beauty in small town America, traveling to Alaska can offer a one of a kind experience. The Kenai River Lodge, located 75 miles from the nearest major airport, is a great inn under new management. Since 2012, the new owners have treated every guest as family and offer a personal touch not found at chains or other local establishments.

The lodge is only seventy five miles from the nearest major airport which hosts vehicle rentals of all types. A short drive and travelers can discover the many benefits of staying at this riverside lodge. Whether staying for business or pleasure, traveling with a family, small group or alone, the lodge has something to offer.

The primary focus is on bank fishing and offers great facilities. These include a private 400 ft fishing area, pathways and a staircase that lead down to a shallow wading area, an area to clean and hang a catch, a freezer available on a first come basis to store fish and a bar-b-q pit to cook the fish if so desired. It is the new owners that make staying at this well known inn better now than ever before.

Everyone visiting the lodge will enjoy having a variety of choice in room types. Each has a view, some overlooking the river and others with a side view or view of the property. All rooms are clean and well stocked. As there are three levels to the hotel, those with health issues may want to inquire about the location of a specific room when making a reservation.

All rooms include a coffee maker, microwave and mini-fridge. Suite 201 is the largest offering two living rooms, two bedrooms and a pull out couch in each room. There is also a full size kitchen in this amazing suite which can accommodate families or groups traveling and wishing to stay in the same room. Whereas, the Crows nest offers more room with one queen bed and four twin beds, perfect for those with children.

All rooms are maintained on a daily basis unless guests request otherwise. This is because the new owners want to make each stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible. If problems do occur, the staff works hard to resolve the issue as quickly as possible while trying not to disturb guests while in the room.

The new owners take great pride in offering the cleanest rooms in the area. Each guest is treated with dignity and respect as the owners want every guest to leave happily satisfied. Problems are often few and far between as the owners maintain the property on a daily basis. If a guest has a problem, it is attended to immediately and resolved as quickly as possible.

When looking for a safe, fun, entertaining vacation with fishing and a great place to stay, travelers can not beat the Kenai River area. It is one of the prominent fishing areas in the region. With the lodge right on the river, it also makes it a perfect to place to stay whether simply wanting to wade, fish or simply relax down by the riverside.
