The Gains Of Essential Oil Distillation

By Lelia Hall

There are several methods when it comes to extracting essential oil from plant materials. One most effective method is steam distillation. This method uses haze which is passed over the plant materials then picks up the essential lubricant as expected. The mist is condensed back where the lubricant and water will be separated.

One major advantage of this extraction method is the process of yielding pure lubricant. One must use essential oil distiller to do it successfully. Other ways such as solvent extraction can also yield the product that contains those chemical by-products. You have to be sure of the procedures to get the needed result.

There are many parts of this tool such as its retort or still, the separator as well as the condenser. Those material are then placed in the retort with the lubricant. Its container can be really large to hold those materials and it must be strong and reliable to withstand and survive the great heat and pressure of the haze or moisture.

The plant materials can sit in the water to be boiled for hydrodistillation or steam production. It can also be suspended above the water by using grate or screen. This method is called wet steam method. The boiling water can also be in another container where the steam is produced below the material through the use of the pipe.

The heat from the haze can break open all fibers of the plants to highly expose the oil and for you to collect it. The combination can leave as well as pass through its condenser. The main component can be a form of copper tubes or pipes. The main purpose is to change the water vapor to its liquid form.

The by-product of this method can be accelerated by refrigeration methods or ice. It can also provide sufficient ample surface area for the heat to escape. The overall combination can pass from its condenser to the separator. This container is often made of glass that can hold the liquid to allow time the product to rise and to settle to the bottom.

The separator is specially made to allow the essential oil to be removed for bottling. The liquid that is left after the skim method can still have a useful purpose. This is the case with the lavender. After the pure lavender is removed, the remaining product called hydrosol still can be used to make a pleasant aroma. It can also be used to freshen the laundry or use to make air freshener.

The distillation equipment is also available in various forms. Some of them look like a small stove and others are formed like large commercial tools that are used by companies to manufacture oil products. The amount of the extracted product from those plant materials is indeed important for the production. It depends on the material that is distilled to produce the output.

Companies or individuals can buy their won distillation tools or equipment. It is good to consider all methods first before buying the tool that is needed. You have to assure that all methods or techniques are highly effective to have the right outcome or result.
