CD And DVD Duplication: The Benefits

By Darrel Jefferson

Just when people were beginning to figure out exactly how to duplicate CD-ROMs and DVDs, the mainstream media switches to the Blu-Ray disc. This shift has come as a result of more advanced technology that allows for higher quality viewing. DVDs were read by a red laser, which was far more advanced than the no lasers involved in VHS. Blu-ray discs on the other hand are read by blue lasers, hence the name.

The benefit of the blue laser is that it reads at a shorter wavelength than the red laser, picking up on the more subtle pits and grooves imprinted on Blu-ray discs. The discs have more capacity for memory, allowing there to be infinitely more detail and content. As it is also compact and relatively inexpensive, it is a viable option for mass production and duplication.

If you are looking to make a tight deadline, then you are definitely going to want to consider the reliability and the speed of CD and DVD duplication.

If you have ever seen a mix CD that your friend made, then you probably have seen a boring CD with unreadable print that nobody can understand written in a thick black sharpie. Although this might work for friends or maybe family, if you want to step up your game professionally, then you are going to also want to consider CD and DVD duplication.

Overall, this task of Blu-Ray duplication is not to be taken lightly as it can be easily confused and messed up, which is an expensive mistake, also unlike the DVD replication process. If you are unsure there are many resources on the Internet that are able to provide detailed descriptions.

Print using thermal transfer - This is a more permanent option for your CDs and will not have the thickness problem but you deal with expensive printers that are able to use thermal transfer. Unless you have lots of CDs to duplicate, this is an expensive option.

If you have ever compared the abilities of the Blu-Ray and the DVD you know that there is no comparison and that the blue laser does clearly make a difference. Becoming aware of how the duplication process works will allow you to understand the simplicity and instantaneousness of the whole process.

It does not take long for a Blu-Ray to be duplicated, which allows for a quick distribution process which is absolutely necessary for mass production. Once you have the proper equipment, you will even be able to burn Blu-Ray discs from your home, just like you are able to with CDs and DVDs.
