Getting The Right Printing Press Installation Services For Your Shop

By Arthur Carter

There are many reasons why your press needs to be moved. The first time, of course, is when it is delivered. Other times could be the remodeling of your shop or moving it to another location. Each time your printing press is moved it must also be installed to ensure it is operating and can operate properly. This is critical. For all of these times, it is important to hire a company that provides the printing press installation services you need.

Locating the best company to do this work can be as easy as checking with the firm that sold you the press and or any of the many supplies you buy on a regular basis. They have a listing of those firms that work with their clients or they may actually offer it themselves. This can be beneficial as they know that press and want to provide continuing services to you.

The thing that makes an offset press different than a platten fed one is the fountain system. This system feeds a water solution to the plate cylinder. In order for this gravity fed system to operate properly, it must be absolutely level. This is not just lowering the legs, it is positioning the machine where it is not interfered with.

Process printing ink is a thick substance, as you know. It does, however, run when it is warmed up. In order for you to use it, it has to stay in the reservoir. This requires the machine to be as level as possible so it can cover the entire platen without voids. This is critical as you can imagine.

Calling the installation professionals will set the stage for everything that comes next. They will come and inspect your site and the equipment. They will make sure you understand that a lot of space around the press will be needed for all of the supplies you have for your tasks. They will then get an approval of the plan they have laid out.

They will either be picking the equipment up at the dealer or moving it from one of your locations to another. If they will be moving it in their vehicle, it will need to be secured so it does not move around. All presses are fairly heavy but they should still not be treated as an afterthought. The strapping will have to be placed and tightened to ensure nothing is bent or restricted enough to become malformed.

If they will be moving it from one area of your shop to a newly remodeled one, the proper use of dollies and strapping will be employed as well. They will have as many people on hand to see that it is handled carefully. They should also know that setting your machine on anything that is unstable will not be a sustainable model for success for you.

What you can expect when you call on these professionals is a shop that is ready to go back to work as soon as they leave. They have everything they need to stabilize and install your press, so you can get your make ready available. That plate you just burnt can go on and, with an appropriate amount of ink, you are back to work.
