Essentials Of Cable Handling Equipment

By Larry Taylor

Data cables give the connection between the computer system and its hardware components. These cables are used for communication of the computer with other computers. There are different companies out there producing different qualities of data cables. Many firms are now offering cable handling equipment.

The temperature of Polyvinylchloride (PVC) ranges between -20 to 80 degrees Celsius. This material is mostly used since is available at a lower cost. The Teflon is most expensive material to make the data cables since they have excellent electrical characteristics that help it to resist the heating conditions and the chemical splash. Its temperature ranges between -70 to 200 degrees Celsius.

The polyvinylchloride (PVC) is the material mostly used on cables since the goods are readily available at a lower cost. Its temperature is ranged between -20 to 80 degrees Celsius. The Teflon are rated at the temperature ranging between -70 to 200 degrees Celsius. This material is expensive since they have excellent electrical properties with the ability to resist chemical splash and high heating conditions.

The low smoke zero halogen (LSZH) is other material that has thermoplastic compound used when reducing the level of corrosive and toxic gasses that is produced during combustion. These materials are mostly utilized in areas that are poorly ventilated.it has a temperature that lies between -20 to 80 degrees Celsius, and it is mostly employed by the military contractors.

The plenum is the other material that is highest resistant to flame although they emit corrosive and toxic gasses as combustion takes place. They are used to circulate air. Thus the fire extinguishers with plenum cables are preferred in case of fire. The goods are made from different materials like the Teflon and PVC; its temperature varies because of materials used in making them.

The shield option quality is metallic layer on the conductors, and under the cables jackets, this layer helps in prevents electrostatic from affecting the external devices and the wires. This electrostatic is caused by the data that is corrupt as it is transmitted by computer cables. The electromagnetic interference that occurs on cables is due to switches, motors and fan.

The data wire shielding is made up of foil/mylar which is resistant to EMI thus utilized in printers and serial cables. The other type of shielding is the double shield; they are stranded wires that are interwoven in form of a cylinder. They excellently resist the EMI thus utilized in fire wire, USB, parallel cables and the high-end serials.

The common types of shielding of data cables are foil/mylar, foil/Mylar plus braid and spiral shields. The foil/mylar is mostly used in a printer and serial cables. They have an excellent resistance of EMI. The second type is foil/mylar plus braids also known as the double shield. They are used in fire wire, USB, and high-end serials together with the parallel cables. The products are stranded wires that are interwoven in cylindrical form. They are also excellent resistance to EMI. The third type of shield in the cables is spiral shield, it is mainly found in flexible cables they are finely stranded wires applied spirally and have excellent EMI resistance.
