The Need For Spiritual Guidance In Life

By Lelia Hall

In the belief of different religion some people are chosen to provide guidance by partaking in different spiritual functions. The chosen people are supposed to offer spiritual guidance to the congregation or the gathered group of people. Some of the functions that they perform will include leading services like baptism, wedding, and so on while still providing guidance.

Different religion and churches have assigned these people with different responsibilities. These responsibilities across a specific religion will match but also differ in some ways. Some of the role and responsibilities assigned to these groups of people will include, spearheading coordination in different church activities, ensuring that administrative functions are running smoothly; providing necessary guidance and coordination support, being involved in community services, being the pillar to lead in prayers while providing guidance and support to people.

To be anointed or appointed as a minister, you will have to have attained the specific qualification of the different denominations. Some of the denominations will pay close attention to the advanced qualifications one is supposed to achieve while others will mostly consider the natural gifts one possesses. An important point to note is that the most important factor in all the denominations and churches are the fact that you must have a calling to partake in the different guidance within the church.

In most of the churches including the likes of Catholic, Anglican, Lutheran, among others, emphasize on only ordained clergy when it come to conducting church matters. Even at points where politics is concerned, they will only use the ordained people/personnel/clergy. These churches have the following people: Bishop, Priest and deacons.

The hierarchical order is as follows. The bishop usually offers sacraments and is also involved in the governing of the church, priest usually administer sacraments and also assist in leading the congregation. They don't have the ability to consecrate buildings or ordain clergy. Deacons are involved in providing assistance to the church; they have no authority to offer a sacramental role in the church.

The organizational structure of the church has been changing over time. The structure that was found in the past periods has changed by a big margin. In the northern Europe, the clergy had different role from the role he currently has. He/She was mandated to carry out the different roles within the church. He/She had the ability to offer sacramental services in the church. Inheritance of the roles in the church was common, this is not the case currently.

Countries in the part of the Swedish empire, including Finland and Baltic have a more preserved catholic tradition. This is not the same with countries in different regions within the world. Due to their resistance to reforms, the roles of priest, bishops and deacons are clearly outline.

The church is usually mandated to carry out some of the very important ceremonies. This includes the likes of baptism, confirmation, anointing the sick, holy order, and divine services. The ministers in the churches are the ones who will be mandated to carry out the different functions.

With the changing world, different groups of people have been incorporated into the church; these groups of people will include the likes of pastors, chaplains, and padres. They are mandated to carry out various activities within the church. The emergence of different types of ministries has been witnessed and married. This includes the likes of youth ministry, campus ministry and married ministry among others.
