Farmers Markets & How Brazil Is Seeing Increases

By Robert Sutter

I cannot say enough good things about the benefits that farmers markets markets have. To me, these crops are some of the best because of how natural they are and how well they will be able to benefit the body as a result. That being said, what can be done in order to help the level of demand that these particular crops have, you may wonder? If you are looking for information about other areas of the world, you can rest easy knowing that popularity is on a steady incline.

It seems as though farmers markets are seeing such a level of growth in Brazil. According to an article on Occupy, there is a growing demand for fresher food in the area and it is a demand that certainly has to be met. One of Brazil's biggest cities in Belo Horizonte showed a 10% increase in produce demand over the first half of 2013, in fact, which goes to show just how strong authorities like Colle Farmers Market truly are. What has been done for such a demand to arise, you may wonder?

I think most of this has to do with the idea of social media and how there has been far more information brought to the surface. In particular, Brazil's heavy usage of pesticides has been talked about and 11.2 pounds were used per person each year. This is tremendous, to say the least, especially when you considered that the article stated how this is twice as much as what's been utilized in the United States. It goes without saying that changes have to be made in this area.

I think that the idea of education is very important because it raises concerns that might not have been there otherwise. Fruits and vegetables of many types are going to be seen and many of them are going to have pesticides in tremendous amounts. I believe that strawberries are some of the most prevalent in this regard, seeing as how the ridges of such berries can render cleaning a chore. You will not be able to rinse off every bit of this particular fruit a well.

It's apparent that there is a need for organic vegetable markets, in some places more than others. Everyone should have access to the best crops out there and the ones that are treated with natural methods are the ones that I have a hard time arguing against. To me, these are able to stand the test of time better than most other items that you can find at supermarkets. In time, you will start to see just how well these particular crops will be able to benefit your diet.
