Reliable And Dynamic Fundraising Art Auctions

By Krystal Branch

If there is a necessity for fundraising art auctions, event organizers must ensure that the revenue exceeds the cost of hiring the required equipment. Solicited funds must be presented in a manner that shows the information regarding the contents of contracts involving fundraising charitable organizations, disclosure requirements, a range of prohibited acts, registered agent requirements, rules pertaining to reciprocal agreements, investigatory authority vested in enforcement officials, civil and criminal penalties, and other sanctions.

The word charitable, as employed in the state charitable solicitation act context, is broad and encompassing to embrace all categories of organizations that are regarded as charitable entities for federal tax exemption and deduction purposes . Therefore, the range of the term encompasses churches, and conventions, associations, integrated auxiliaries and other religious organizations.

In general, the law of charity is derived largely from the law pertaining to trusts and property. The meaning of the term charitable has been developed largely through interpretations for purposes of the federal tax exemption and the federal income, estate, and gift tax deductions.

The best thing you can do for your donor is believe in the mission you are representing. With passion, others see it and are encouraged to join. They start to imagine themselves working for a solid cause, a good effort and a positive change that will benefit the community and solve their problems after an environmental disaster, poverty or hunger.

This can be oral or written. It can take place by means of an in-person request, mail, facsimile, advertisement, other publication, television, radio, telephone, or other medium. Do not generalize the methods but apply specific techniques to your area of specialization. Put another way, they must be reasonable enough to encourage well-intentioned groups to cooperate in trying to meet them, thus contributing to an overall improvement in operating methods.

Watchdogs enable the societies to uphold accountability. It follows that we do not see our role as an adversarial one. When it does become adversarial, as it inevitably does with a few groups, we see that partly as a failure on our part. In practical terms, this viewpoint affects the way we develop and apply standards, and the spirit in which we deal with individual organizations in daily meetings and discussions.

Again, there is little doubt that these agencies envision themselves as operating in the public interest, by forcing disclosure of information to the general public and otherwise acting to aid prospective donors. Public reliance on the watchdog agencies pronouncements has become as great as to make a fundraising success dependent on a good rating, or to divert gifts from a national organization that receives a negative rating.

It means that we do everything we can to help a cooperative, noncompliance group meet the standards as quickly as possible, and that we place a primary emphasis, in developing and applying standards, on the collective advice of responsible representatives of philanthropic groups and allied professions, donor representatives, and state and local monitoring agencies. If you want to profit from fundraising art auctions, you must do your calculations in order to gain revenue.
