TSA Horror Stories From Common Folk

By Edward Bailey

The TSA, or the transport security administration, has always been under fire for their standard operating procedures that are rather invasive of privacy. People have complained about being groped, being violated, or even harassed. There have been a lot of tsa horror stories that are told by the common folk when it comes to their experiences in the airport.

Racial discrimination is quite rampant in a lot of Western countries, and it is something that is also very rampant among government working bodies like the transport security agency. Gurdeep Singh Bawa is a man who was experienced something like that when he was forced to take out his turban. According to his culture, this is a big no no as it is considered a gross disrespect to let others touch the turban.

There is also a story about this woman who was on a flight from Texas who was stopped by the agents. The agents sexually harassed her by forcing her to take off her blouse, exposing her breasts to them so that they can thoroughly check her. This made her file a complaint which was not reciprocated in anyway. So she just filed a lawsuit against the agency and kept her name anonymous from the reporters or news channels.

One Redditor who had sleep apnea complained that a security agent even tampered with her sleep apnea machine because they thought it was some kind of strange device. Eventually, they disassembled it, prompting the Redditor to get the name of the supervisor in charge to file a case in the event she died because they broke the sleep apnea machine. Needless to say, they had the machine replaced afterwards.

Cathy Bassi, who was a survivor of breast cancer and had a prosthetic breast was also very mortified by the procedure. The agents detected the prosthetic breast through the scanner and forced Bassi to reveal it for the agents to see. The agents even touched the prosthetic breast probably thinking it was something else.

Even a six year old fell victim to this sort of sexual harassment, as a father who wrote a blog stated. According to the father, the agents did not give the boy any choice whether he wanted a full body scan or a pat down. He was just automatically chosen for a pat down wherein the agents groped his testicles.

Of course, not everyone cooperated with the agents as this man, John Tyner showed everyone. In an interview in Fox News, Tyner stated that he refused both the pat down and the full body screening as he stated it to be illegal and a violation of human rights. Due to this, the agents eventually escorted Tyner out of the airport prompting him to miss his flight.

These stories give a clear picture at how abusive transport security agents can be at times whenever they feel like. Unfortunately, complaints would usually fall on deaf ears when people want justice. As one can read in these stories above, they're all actually enough to discourage people from flying to certain places already because of the possible abuse that they may experience.
