In essence, the so called parti colored Yorkie is no different from an ordinary Yorkie or rather Yorkshire terrier. It is also a pure breed like the regular Yorkie except that it has more color variation. A standard terrier will have range of colorings from tan and blue and mixtures in between, while the parti one will have black, white and tan variants and combinations.

Being very popular dogs and purebreds at that, these dogs are by no means cheap and you should prepare to shell out a pretty penny for one. An American Kennel Club or AKC registered one will set you back around USD1200 to USD1500. Prices can be significantly lower or higher than the prevailing prices depending on supply and demand in your area.

The personality of the Yorkshire terrier is very feisty and confident. These traits are also characteristic or present in larger sized terrier breeds, and despite its size, it can be classified as somewhat bossy. Thus to be an owner of this dog, you have to be bossy and confident as well so that you can keep it under control, or at least be a fitting match for it.

And despite its apparently small size, it is surprisingly a long lived breed. It has been known to live anywhere from thirteen years to twenty years. It must be taken into account that proper care and nutrition are the factors in extending the lifespan of any breed, Yorkshire or otherwise. These dogs do have sensitive digestive systems, so a lot of care has to be taken in terms of dietary intakes and requirements.

Chronic diarrhea and frequent vomiting can be the prevailing health issues of this breed, this is due to their sensitive stomachs. Thus extreme care must be taken as to what they can and cannot eat. In addition they are easily injured due to their small size, and so rough play with children, which often occurs, should be avoided. They should also be kept indoors most if not all of the time due to their being easily injured. Injuries, severe ones, may take time to heal or treat, as they are allergic to many types of anesthesia also.
