For Water Well Drilling Fort Stockton Is Worth Visiting

By Amanda Hughes

There exist three types of wells presently. The kind of contractor or service firm one hires depends on the type of water well a person intends to drills. Driven, dug, and drilled wells are the three kinds of wells that exist commonly today. In specific areas, other wells are more common than others. For example, in rural regions or less-developed nations, dug wells are the most common. When in need of Water Well Drilling Fort Stockton should be visited.

Dug well still exist since some people are not able financially to hire the services of a drilling company. These regions are also less developed thus cannot access the latest drilling technology. Finally this is more suitable in areas with deep water-tables.

Dug wells used to be very common several years ago, but they are becoming less common each day as technology becomes more accessible. They are dug using hand shovel. The digger, digs a hole in the ground and continues digging until they access underground water. When this happens, they use buckets to draw water and pour it out of the hole. This process continues until the water becomes too much that it cannot be drawn.

Digging these kinds of wells beyond the water-table is difficult. Such wells may become dry in dry seasons hence are not the best. To prevent them for drying, digging is done in dry seasons. Digging these wells comes with many challenges and risks. Death has occurred to individuals due to lack of oxygen when the hole is too deep. When loose soil collapses, individuals have been buried alive in other instances.

Today, another type of well in use is the driven wells. They may not be too popular but are being used in various parts of the world. These wells are dug by powering a small diameter pipe into soft soil such as gravel or sand. A screen is used to get rid of sand and other particles that make their way into the pipe.

Driven wells cannot go very deep because the pipe cannot be driven in hard soil. The wells are usually very shallow as a result. The shallowness of the wells is one of their major disadvantages. The shallow well is usually susceptible to surface contaminants, which make the water not suitable for drinking or use in domestic applications.

For drilled wells, a drilling rig is used to excavate soil. These wells are durable besides producing safe water free of contaminants even if the method costs a lot. Usually, drilling rigs applied in this process are mounted on big trucks. Different types of bits may be fixed on drilling rigs for drilling. Percussion bits, rotary drill bits, and auger bits are among the kinds of drill bits used presently.

The best drill bit to be used for drilling through hard rock is the rotary drill bits. Naturally hard materials such as diamonds are the ones used to make drill bits. On the contrary, percussion bits usually cut through the rock by smashing while auger bits are used on softer grounds. Drilled wells run deep into the ground stretching more than1000 feet deep. Water from these wells is pumped out using pumps.
