Tips On Designing Golf Course Construction For The Backyard

By John Green

Golf courses are types of grounds which are being made specifically for golf game. The grounds usually are composed of several holes. Each of the hole is consist of a teeing ground, green, fairway, and some hazards such as the rough. The green contains a flag stick or a pin and as well as hole cup. The standard number of holes in golf game is 18.

The course are usually following the original landscapes but some grounds are being modified. There are some cases where in the new courses are found in the lands which are less optimal. If you really have the obsession with golf, you can try designing you own backyard golf course construction by following these simple steps.

Think first about the time and space amounts that are needed during the construction. Designing courses is difficult. Surely, you will be thinking of many ideas and you cannot avoid doubting some of those. Having some references like researching on the internet can help. So if you have chosen already your design and started doing the process, make sure that you can maintain it, because if you are doing a complex design, redoing it might be hard.

Next is to consider on purchasing the needed tools and equipment. Putter and pitching or sand wedge are two equipment that are primarily used for the game. These two wedge clubs only are going to be used for backyard golf. You will also be needing multiple balls. Grass mowers are needed as well so that the maintenance of grass can be done easily, making it shorter and nicer.

Decide on what type of ground that you are going to use for the course. If you are owning a very large land and you are willing to spend time on maintaining it, having the par four or par five is suggested. But for average sized backyards, par three is fine. Make sure that the land to be designed has a flat surface and has lesser bumps, meaning, not having any slopes or hills.

Start in mowing the fairways. A good suggestion to this is to do the mowing in an alternate way for each row so that the mowed areas are neat and will look like the striped style, thus, you can achieve the real fairways. Doing the mowing may usually take three up to four days depending on the backyard sizes.

Start to mow the green. Before you start to mow the green, make sure that the blades of mower are set to the lowest setting so that the grass will be cut short neatly. Make sure that the green is placed on a surface of the background having the flattest land area. A good recommendation is do the mowing of green every 2 days.

Create 2 to 3 hazards or sand traps. You can purchase these materials from the nearby hardware stores in your local area. These sand traps will be placed on fairways along the sides and on greens behind, at the front, or along the side.

Lastly, do a regular maintenance of the course. In real courses, people are going to hire professional crews for the maintenance of their courses. But in your case, mowing every day is not needed, so just give time to check it, may be for about 15 to 20 minutes.
