Employment Companies Are Important In The Current Employment Market

By Penny Toblas

There are plenty of employment opportunities out there. The trick is in finding a way to make yourself be seen and heard by desirable employers. You can submit countless resumes and cover letters with zero results. In order to be effective in the job market of today, you need an agent. Depending upon your level of experience, there are different types of employment companies that can help you achieve your desired goal.

Employment agencies, which are sometimes called staffing agencies, are a good place to start for job hunters seeking entry level or mid level positions. Employers with a large number of employees are constantly in the process of trying to fill vacant positions. Many of the larger companies use staffing agencies exclusively to fill vacancies. The agencies take on work that would have to be done by their staff in human resources

Once you have gone through the process of registering at a staffing agency, you understand the advantage for employers. First you will have to produce two valid forms of identification which you may or may not have on hand. The registration process involves completing and signing multiple documents. You will authorize the staffing agency to do a background check. For employers the real advantage of using a staffing agency is knowing that the qualifications and background of applicants have been verified.

If your experience and skills are at the executive or managerial levels, a headhunting firm would suit you better than a staffing agency. Headhunters are also called recruitment agencies. Employers who agree to hire through a recruitment agency do so with a financial commitment. When an applicant referred by a recruitment agency is hired, the employer will pay the agency a finders fee which can be as much as thirty percent of the annual salary the new employee will earn.

The process of signing with a recruitment agency is not unlike applying for a job. You will be interviewed and scrutinized as if they were going to hire you. The agency will not take you on unless they believe you will represent them well. Recruitment agencies are serious about finding jobs for their clients, so be prepared for upcoming interviews.

Some headhunter agencies focus on a niche area. For example, they may only represent physicians, or artists or engineers. This is an elite level of employment agencies and only the highly qualified need apply to them for representation.

The concept of movie stars being represented by agents is familiar to most people. Movie stars need a quality agent to find jobs, and agents only want to represent quality stars who will get cast in movies or television roles. Both parties need each other. A recruitment agency is based on the same principle. To be accepted by a respected recruitment agency, you must impress them with your skills and experience. Once accepted, there is a good chance of landing that dream job.

There are also global staffing agencies that provide all manner of employment opportunities and should not be overlooked in your search for that ideal job. These agencies are held in high regard by most of the Fortune 100 companies. Since their services are offered on a global basis, these agencies are an excellent resource if you want to move to another state or even another country.

Global staffing agencies are big companies with world wide connections. They pride themselves on making things happen. One global agency reports that they find one of their clients a job every thirty three seconds, and they make half a million job connections every year. Sometimes global agencies fill a lot of temporary positions. People can be so litigious these days that employers want to get to know you before hiring on a permanent basis. When a temporary employee performs well they usually are successful at transitioning to a permanent position.

Do not worry about taking a temporary position. Usually when temporary employees work well with the company they are able to make the transition to permanent employees. This is really a great opportunity to try out something new. If both parties are not happy at the end of the trial period both are free to end the working relationship.

Do not fear. Employment opportunities are out there in abundance. Your first priority will be to find the best representation possible for you and your skill levels. This could be the start of something wonderful.
