How You Can Properly Carry It Out

By George Dodson

If you haven't had a job yet, you should understand that a workplace is practically your second home. Work also requires a lot of time as the time spent with family and there are those that spend more time at work because they don't have much choice. If you're spending a lot of time at work then you'll have greater chances of being stressed instead of course if you have stress relievers at work such as friends. For some, having friends at work is not an important thing however they probably do not know what they are missing.

Having friends in the office or on your workplace provides you with a helping hand in case you got piled up with paper work or too much work. Friends in the workplace also provides you with eyes that can monitor your work performance thus being able to see what you lack and the subjects where you are not effective at and eventually fix those. Likewise, friends can help you when you are down emotionally. Having good friends at work, the best in you will be brought out and you can work with ease. So how do you actually make real friends in the office to take advantage of all these benefits? Listed below are the things you need to bear in mind to effectively make friends from people at your work place.

First impressions last

Among the best and simplest way to get to know other people and at the same time make them remember you. As you are introduced to other people or colleagues, try to give them that warm smile, firm handshake, humble approach and kind gestures. Having to do well in your first meeting will draw other people?s interest toward you which makes them think that you are approachable thus a friend material.

A part of this first step is remembering people's names as you are introduced. This will increase your confidence toward communicating with them.

Eat with the group

There is also a great chance for you to make friends during break specially lunch breaks. Should you be invited for a lunch-in with the group, do not decline since doing that would make an impression that you are not interested in their group or with the people in that group. Lunch breaks are also the only hours at work where people can discuss on any topic freely and express or do pretty much anything they want. This will be a perfect opportunity for you to inform people about you as well as get to know the things you have in common with them.

Try to be more open-minded

You should know that despite your efforts to make friends with people at work, there will be those that aren't really into making friends. Thus, you will need to understand that and be open-minded about it. Being open-minded, try to know or find out why you are disliked and thus try to make an effort to reinforce that. Not only will you be able to deal with indifference at work but can make your sense of leadership as well as your ability to deal with negativity radiate.

Do not rush

Lastly, making real friends take time. A real friend is not someone you can find within a day. However, it also shouldn't take a year before you can have a friend at your work place. Making friends happens naturally and when it does it lasts a lifetime.
