Normally, the contract signed at the beginning has a clause that gives the management the authority of accessing the space and selling personal belongings. In such case, the tenant does not have any legal recourse. The tenant is given a certain period before this step is executed. Selling of personal belongings is the last option which terminates the lease besides rendering it null and void.

Several reasons exist why people rent space. One of the reasons is to keep sensitive documents or items. If one does not feel that their private documents or items are not safe in their own house, rental storage may be the solution. The fee charged is usually low and affordable to many people.

Since this industry began in the United States, it is also most widespread and common there than in any other country. The industry is very huge in the US, amounting to some 2.3 billion square feet of rental space available for renting to the public. The industry continues to grow every day.
