What One Can Learn From Millennial Leadership Training

By Shirley Campbell

Millennials have always had that reputation that they are lazy, spoiled and self entitled. Although millennials tend to be a bit spoiled by the previous generation, the generation Y does have a lot of potential for growth that they can use in order to help make the world and society grow. Of course, these young leaders would first need to undergo the proper training programs such as millennial leadership courses in order for them to become successful.

Now, before talking more about what the program may offer, one can further appreciate it by getting to know the generation Y. First off, individuals from generation Y seem quite spoiled because they grew up in a time where finance is not a very big problem for most middle class citizens. Also, the baby boomers who have worked hard during their time are now more inclined to spoiling their children in order to give their children the things that they were not able to have.

However, the strength of this generation is that since they are living in a time where they do not need to worry too much about survival, they are more innovative and can come up with ideas to further improve life. Coupled with technology, the generation Y babies can propel the world to the future. The key of these programs are to curb the weaknesses and to propel the strengths.

The first thing that these programs would teach is mindset. As stated above, a big weakness of the generation Y is that they tend to get very self entitled with life which makes them not able to survive. The first thing that the program would teach them would be to develop the hungry mindset of survival first because in order for one to be a leader, he must first know how to survive in even the worst conditions.

When one has developed the strong mindset already, then the next step is to develop the skills. First, one should learn organization skills or to simply how to make a good system for the people underneath him to work within. If everything is organized and systematic, the goal or the vision of the leader will also be realized faster because everything moves like clockwork.

Of course, a lot of the training would also involve some people skills as leading would deal with handling people. Being a leader is not just about delegation and intimidating people. Rather, it is about knowing where to put people in the system and to help them grow as well.

With the innovative mindset and the tech savviness that the millennials naturally have, it would be easy to train them to not only create a creative working system for the work, but also to come up with a system for motivating and leading the people. One will also learn the importance of creating an emotional connection with the people in order for them to work well.

With the amount of potential the millennials have, it would definitely be a shame to waste it. This is why the generation Y needs all the training that they can get in order to do well. With this training, they can replace the leaders of yesterday and be the leaders of today.
