This is the reason why companies would not have second thoughts about hiring people with relevant experience despite their age. Format is the first thing that employers or hiring managers notice in a resume

One of those things you may want to be careful about when creating a resume is the format. Traditionally, a resume format is composed of an educational background first followed by work experience then ended with the skills enumeration. This is often the kind of format for people who just graduated from college and is looking to have their first job. While this format may be good for newbies, it isn't actually as functional and appealing for experienced and older workers. An advisable format for the older would be skills first and then work experience, seminars attended, training and others on the next page. The educational background will just be according to preference and if you choose to include it on the first page, you need to shorten it to just a few lines.

Dates

If there is one more thing that could make your resume look like a mess it would be the dates. To expand this further, imagine if you have finished school 20 years ago and have that specified in your educational background and have your employer see it, he or she would wonder if you still have the knowledge and skills to work with today's modern requirements. This would be a huge concern for them as they need new and improved minds and skills as these are more productive as well as less expensive. You can simply specify the years worked or years studied when you want to specify the dates in your resume so as not to draw doubts from your employer.

Emphasize your willingness to learn

Despite your experience and your high level of skills you should still have the willingness to learn new things and further improve the great level of skills that you have now. If there is one thing that employers want to hear from their employees its the willingness to learn new things and to further grow. As the company grow, employers want their staff or employers to grow with them as well further enhancing their skills and knowledge. You can show your willingness to further improve your skills and learn by emphasizing on your recent training and seminars attended.

Work ethics

With regards to work ethics in any generation of workers, the older ones actually have better ethics towards work. Emphasize your reliability, responsibility, loyalty to the company as well as your visions of growing with the company.

Confidence is key

Lastly, you won't be able to come up with good content for your resume if you don't have enough confidence. You can simply express your confidence to your employers through your resume by simply choosing confident words. A good way to do this is by emphasizing these words on the work experience part of your resume. Use words such as I supervised, I managed, I controlled, I spear-headed and others while you write the job descriptions.
