Factors That Determine Illinois Copywriter Rates

By Donna McDonald

If you are thinking of building a new website or create a business brochure and have a dilemma whether to hire a professional or do the writing yourself, you should put a few things into consideration. A marketing copy is likely to differ from the one that you are used to writing. In case you decide to hire a professional, you need to know the pricing. Professionals will consider the following factors to determine Illinois copywriter rates.

The cost will also be determined by the amount of work. A comprehensive company brochure that has over ten pages will take longer to complete than a project that involves writing a four page sales brochure. Depending on the amount or quantity of copy, the rates will vary.

The other thing is complexity. If there are few background studies to be done, a writer is likely to find the project a walk in the park. It applies mostly to consumer goods as much of the research was done during manufacturing period. But when it comes to crafting words for industrial artifacts, then the writer as to spend time in the library reading books or the field administering questionnaires and interviewing to get an upfront of what he or she has to write.

Just like in any other business, writers are aware of what others are charging for services. They will work hard to keep the rates competitive. Some will lower their prices below those of most copywriters or inflate them based on the market forces. Experienced experts, however, will not charge similar to new entrants since they are better at work. Quality will affect the price.

Moreover, the period within which you need the work done will affect the cost. These professionals will always have some projects waiting. So, if you want to jump the line and maybe have your project completed soonest possible, it means the person will have to work late in the evening or wake up early. As a result, you have to pay for these hours they are working.

Often, you will find that every business has a low season when the sellers and service providers have to compete for clients. During these periods, costs are usually low even in the copywriting business. Again, you will find that there are peak seasons when every business is booming. The rates will be high since the services are rare and people are competing for service providers. People will be willing to pay any amount.

Some questions are going to affect the cost. One of them is if the freelancer pays for the office space and the value of the area. The other is the employees or the team that is behind him which makes the work a success. All these if at all they exist, are overhead cost and will affect the price based on the person you engage.

Last but not least, the sophistication of the project is likely to affects the rates. If the writer has to prepare your marketing strategy and provide you ideas on how to come up with a brand, it will not cost the same as when you have done all these before taking the project to them for completion.
