How To Take Advantage Of Blogs About Improving Yourself

By Maria Sullivan

When you feel down or depressed, it's a normal human response to search for people going through the same thing and look for a connection. With the advent of the Internet, it's much easier to connect with others, even those that you don't know personally. However, if you don't want to share your burden with people who know you and you want to resolve your issues on your own, then you may benefit from blogs about improving yourself.

You'll be surprised at the number of blogs you'll find with a simple search of the topic. In fact, there are blogs that only focus on making a list of blogs focused only on personal development. Various sites are ranked based on how many people visit them. Higher page views usually mean that the articles there are of high-quality, hence online users visit them more often.

Some blogs that focus on self-improvement will feature info-graphics. Info-graphics show tips and ideas as images. These normally contain one-liners that will help you make sense of the images. These can be printed out and placed on your desk or taped to the wall, so you have a reminder even when you're not online.

Some resources show ideas in a linear way. The initial stage would focus on making you accept yourself, before leading you to other articles that will help you better understand yourself. The concept behind it is that you cannot take the first step towards self-improvement, unless you love and accept who you are.

Some blogs will show you videos, demonstrating tips and exercises to help improve yourself. These are helpful motivators in the sense that you see people doing it, and benefiting from it. Most sites like this have a corresponding forum that allows you to connect with people who have the same experiences. At this point, it may be easier for you to share your issues and trade lessons learned, because you know they understand and accept you just as you are.

Start looking for your specialty once you feel more confident. Do another research to get ideas on what others have done to better themselves, a skill, or their knowledge on something. On your free time, access sites offering personality quizzes. These will help you list activities you're sure to be successful at according to your personality.

Once you have identified the skill set for you, shift your energy to learning more about it. Start with related tasks that you can do from home. Find a mentor within your local vicinity. Take it one day at a time. Do not get easily discouraged and quit when the going gets tough. No one improves themselves overnight. Who knows, as you improve on those tasks, you may be able to turn your new passion into a full-time job.

Once you've excelled in your chosen skill, why not give back to those who've helped you? Make a blog of your own where you can detail your journey. Just make sure it's easy for interested people to find by using the right keywords. Make a video demonstrating your skill. Start a forum for people like you. One of the ways you can keep yourself from returning to the old you, is by helping people reach their own goals.
