For Excellent Indoor Plants Miami Is Worth Visiting

By Frances Adams

A specific definition of indoor plants does not exist. In fact, growing plants in indoor settings denies them of sunshine, rain, fresh air and other important elements. However, certain species handle these conditions well and still manage to thrive. Such kinds of plant have their origins in the subtropical climates where they thrive on little sunshine. There are very many species. Therefore, when one wants good indoor plants Miami offers a nice place to visit.

Often, people choose a plant that is not suited for lighting conditions in the house. The plant selected should be shade-tolerant, preferably with big dark green leaves. Large dark leaves help with photosynthesis, which implies that they can do well on little sunshine. Good examples include Chinese lucky plant, Zanzibar gem, kentia palm, lady palm, happy peace lily, and cast iron plant.

Installation locations that are brightly lit need plant varieties with patterned or colored leaves. Tropical plant species that do well in dappled sun conditions are a good choice. Such species include colorful bromeliads, prayer plant, dumb cane, and zebra plant. The environment of origin of the seedling must be comparable to that of the final destination to avoid problems with adaptation.

An indoor plant also needs care and nurture just like other outdoor varieties. Watering should be done once or twice in a week depending on the prevailing climatic condition in the area. If the climate is very hot, watering may need to be done more frequently. The best way of applying water is by using a watering can of the right size.

The maintenance process should involve fertilizing too. Fertilizing should only be done when needed in granule form. Fertilizer needs to applied two times in a year according to recommendations. Leaves that grow old must be picked and disposed to provide room for new ones to develop. Seaweed solution can be added into water to optimize plant health.

Stressed plants show more vulnerability to attack by insects. Lack of or insufficient fertilizing and watering are the main causes of stress. Some of the insects that attack stressed plants are mealy bugs. Small scale infestations can be eliminated by picking the insects up and throwing them away. However, if the scale of infestation is larger, chemical solutions need to be applied. Leaves that have been affected have to be removed.

The process of going green is facilitated by picking the right pot size. When picking the pot, the size, color, style, design, and material should complement the decor inside the home. Pots are priced differently depending on various aspects. Some are cheap while others are very costly. Customization is also possible in pots according to the preferences and tastes of the buyer.

It goes without saying that, interior vegetation serves several purposes that promote health and well-being. For instance, they help in purifying the air by taking in carbon dioxide and giving out oxygen. Similarly, they are good for managing noise inside the house and giving a green touch.
