One Fifth Of E-Commerce In 2014 From Mobile Phones - Here's Why

By Adam Noah

Just five or six years ago, there was only a small amount of the population that was actually using smartphones. People were still conditioned to use traditional phones with buttons that only showed the caller ID and a few other bits of information. Today, smartphones are becoming the standard for all phones that are produced by cellular companies, which is why e-commerce businesses should be very attentive.

Although applications were developed in order to generate interest in what their websites had to offer, it is technology that allows people to use the web browsers built into their smart phones, and the ability of the websites to allow mobile users to navigate and purchase products easily, that has made it possible for over 20% of all e-commerce sales to be accomplished using smartphones today.

Problems With Mobile Advertising And Websites - The main problem that smaller companies have with mobile advertising is that when the user gets to their website, they are not able to easily navigate in order to buy the products and services that are for sale.

How Retailers Can Take Advantage Of Smartphones - Despite the fact that these top two companies are raking in most of the sales, it is still possible for smaller companies to take advantage of this trend. As they modified the websites that they have allowing people to purchase from their cell phones, tablets, or other mobile devices, it is possible to allow even small to medium-size businesses to generate millions of dollars in sales by making their websites usable by cellular phone users.

If someone had predicted five years ago that cellular phones would actually be responsible for over $80 billion in sales, people would probably have laughed outright, and for good reason. At the time, the iPhone was in its infancy, and all other competitors had mediocre smartphones at best.

The future of advertising certainly seems to be trending in the direction of mobile e-commerce. As people progressed from going to shopping malls and stores to ordering what they need online and having it delivered, mobile marketing is taking it a step further. Instead of having to be at home, or to open up your laptop in order to shop and buy, by simply pulling out your phone, sliding and tapping on your screen, purchases can be made where ever you may be. If you want to be profitable in 2014, it is in your best interest to consider moving into mobile advertising and marketing today.
